A BRIEF HISTORY
Kevin D. Wasley has been an avid collector of Elvis Presley
memorabilia since 1959.
He was born and raised in Hawera and attented Hawera High
School.
A painter and paperhanger by trade, Kevin is well known and
respected around Hawera.
He is often seen dressed as 'The King' but his pride and
joy is the Elvis Presley Memorial Record Room which he has developed over
the years in an adapted garage next to his house.
The Elvis Room contains thousands of rare recordings,
souvenirs and memorabilia, many of which were collected during the few trips
he made to the home of Elvis Presley, Graceland. (He has been through the
house itself 17 times!).
He has over 5,000 recordings and approximately 80% of them
are imported. They include LP's, EP's 10" discs, 45's 78's, cassettes,
compact discs, laser discs, gold and silver records and picture discs of all
sizes.
His personal favourites include such rare items as:
. . . as well as many other items donated and traded by
appreciative visitors.
The Museum has reached a point where the value of its
contents is well beyond estimation.
